Treasure

recording sessionThe original words to Treasure came to me after attending the November 2005 Children’s Cancer Research Fundraiser.  At the event, a song was performed and then played in the video that captured the lives of the families affected by childhood cancer.  I walked away singing that song for the next couple days and so….. was inspired!

While the devastating affects of cancer are enormous, I still feel blessed to be touched by it personally.  Don’t get me wrong, I would never choose cancer, but I would never change the experiences I have had as a result.  I feel incredibly blessed to call myself a survivor and have learned that life is a gift to treasure.  Whether you have cancer or not, each day is a gift; a gift given to each of us by God, to be embraced and not wasted.

Like I said, the original words were written by me, but wonderfully re-written and arranged by Terry Esau.  My dear friend, Christine Weiss is the beautiful voice you hear singing it.  Her husband, along with other gracious friends make up the instrumentals and the final product was produced by Airborne Studios.  I hope you will enjoy it!

Blessings,
Joelle

Each day the sun comes up I have a choice
To face the sky or turn away
But I see tomorrow in today

And when the morning sun turns midnight blue
It takes all my strength to just get by
I can hold on to you
And choose to push on through
And spread my broken wings and try

Chorus
Life’s a gift to treasure
No matter who we are
When you can hardly see
There’s hope in what can be
So treasure the gift of life…

Life comes to me just like it comes to you
It’s hard to hold it in your hand
But God had you in mind
Way before your time
So live this moment while you can

Chorus
Life’s a gift to treasure
No matter who we are
When you can hardly see
There’s hope in what can be
So treasure the gift of life…
